Director of Marketing and Communications

The Director of Marketing and Communications will lead Reach Beyond’s Marketing and Communications team giving strategic direction to the marketing and communication of the mission.

Reporting Staff Members: Marketing and Communications Team

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Manages and protects the brand of Reach Beyond, ensuring all messaging presents a clear and consistent story that aligns with the Brand Guidebook. Maintains design standards and quality control of all outgoing communications content. Educates and supports staff and Country Offices in how to best present the brand.
  • Leads and manages the Marketing & Communications team in the strategy and production of all internal and external communications. Sets the editorial calendar for the year, including all website content, social media, email, print, video and publicity. Ensures strategy aligns with the overall organizational strategic plan and supports the goals of each department. Provides leadership and guidance to the marketing staff.
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive and aligned strategic marketing and communications plan focused on raising brand awareness and developing and cultivating donor relationships. Works closely with the President, U.S. Client Relations Team and Regional Directors to serve stakeholder’s needs in communication. Works closely with the data team to measure and track results.
  • Serves as creative director, writer and editor of the quarterly magazine, V+H Magazine.
  • Manages social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn. Develops strategy, schedules content, interacts with and responds to followers and tracks results.
  • Writes both internal and external content, including but not limited to website and blog content, donor appeals and communications, magazine articles, media releases, and internal news and announcements. Writes on behalf of leadership for both internal and external audiences. Ensures all communications are on brand, proofread and edited for security, accuracy and professionalism.
  • Tells the story of what God is doing through Reach Beyond by building trust and relationships with the field. Understands cultural differences and appreciates security sensitivities in global missions. Uses sound judgment in presenting stories to external audiences while protecting our strategies, our people and the communities we serve. Builds rapport with our missionaries and international leadership and works to improve flow of information.
  • Oversees the system for securely storing, organizing and sharing creative assets throughout the organization.
  • Maintains knowledge of marketing trends, developments, and best practices integrating traditional and digital media tools to develop and execute marketing and communication strategies.
  • Serves on the Ministry Service Center (MSC) Lead Team.
  • Develops and manages the Creative Services budget.
  • Participates in prayer times and chapel/staff meetings.

Job Requirements:
  • Passionate about global missions and reaching the unreached.
  • Strong servant-heart and highly values collaboration/working with a team.
  • Prefer two - five years’ missions experience or serving globally.
  • Prefer a minimum of 10 years’ successful management experience with a team of three or more.
  • Degree in Marketing or related field; and prefer a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Marketing / Communications.
  • Prefer a minimum of 10 years’ successful project management experience.
  • Prefer a minimum of five years’ experience in non-profit donor communications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate concepts and ideas to executive leadership in a clear, concise manner.
  • Strong supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and lead team members towards department and mission objectives.
  • Ability to track and measure department goals and objectives.
  • Desire and ability to stay current with effective marketing and communication strategies within the US and globally.
  • Willing and committed to hold to the policies described in all manuals.
