5 Simple Truths About Prayer

September 30, 2021

Hands placed on an open Bible with a bookmarkIn the midst of busy schedules and the hurried pace of life we tend to live today, I am reminded of how critical it is for my heart to return to a posture of prayer and praise.

Returning to prayer’s simplicity is especially helpful when I can so easily overcomplicate it. Today, I’d like to share five seemingly simple thoughts about prayer.

As you read these statements, pause after reading each, and let the significance of this truth wash over you and reaffirm your heart and mind:

1.  When we pray, we are consciously communicating to a very real God.

2.  There is no “box to be checked” when it comes to prayer. We allow it to be an overflow of our dependence and relationship with Him.
3.  Prayer can happen in a million shapes and forms:
                Throughout the night
Short moments in the midst of our day
                With a dear friend
                Alone in silence
4.  Prayer tethers our hearts and faith to the reality of His presence.
5.  Prayer reminds us to depend on our God in everything.
As we pray each day, let’s remind ourselves of these simple, practical truths that have such an impact on how we approach our Father.
