50,000 People Expected to Attend Crusade in Poland This Summer

February 23, 2006

More than 50,000 people are expected to attend the annual "Festival of Life" evangelistic crusade in the southern Polish city of Wisla July 20-23. It is being organized by Radio CCM, a partner media ministry of HCJB World Radio.

"We view this event as a special time of harvest after sowing and watering via radio for many months, giving us direct access to large groups of people," said Radio CCM Director Henryk Krol in an email report.

Up to 300 volunteers from the U.S. are expected to help with the crusade, including Pastor Mike MacIntosh and other members of Horizon Church of San Diego, Calif.

"All the churches in Wisla and many in the surrounding towns are involved," Krol added. "It is more than networking. It is bringing people to unity by prayer. My heart is often overwhelmed, seeing that the Lord is in control. It is not us trying to motivate others-we all are individually motivated by the Lord and His Spirit. What a thrill!"

Radio CCM is owned and operated by the Polish outreach, DEO Recordings. The network includes five 24-hour-a-day FM radio stations, making Christian broadcasts available to more than 3 million residents. The first station went on the air in O?wi?cim (Auschwitz) in 1998. Stations were later added in Ustron, Bielsko-Biala, Gliwice and Cieszyn.

The ministry is awaiting approval of a broadcasting license for the southern Polish city of Chorzów, serving a metropolitan area of 1.5 million. A Christian satellite radio network to link the Polish stations and expand the ministry is also planned. In addition, programs are available online at www.ccm.pl.
