Dwight and Susie Lind

Project ID: 11116

Lynne and Dwight Lind were accepted as career missionaries with HCJB Global (now Reach Beyond) in 1968 to work in Television.  Dwight was director of the TV ministry in Quito that began using a black and white signal. After a year’s absence, the Linds returned to form Producciones Vozandes, a video production.  PVA began to produce Christian TV programs in Spanish for local and international distribution. These programs were aired around the Easter or Christmas seasons for many years.

Returning to Quito in 1981, Vozandes TV productions continued producing several children’s series.  Lynne branched out in her ministry to include Camino de la Luz with Char Swanson, a Bible study for women in Quito and teaching English as a second language in the Center for Christian Communication. Dwight was involved in the beginning of the Center for Christian Communication under Tom Fulghum.

Lynne and Dwight moved to the US in 1998 and worked with the World Radio Network, sister ministry of HCJB World Radio (now Reach Beyond), in McAllen, Texas part of the network from El Paso, TX, to Yuma, AZ.

Lynne passed away in 2007 and Dwight married Susie Pile in 2009. Dwight was able to help the African Bible College in Malawi, Africa, to setup a studio and TV station in 2012 along with Jim Heck who also served in Ecuador.

Uncle Sam took Susie to the mission field in 1972—he just didn’t know that. A year later she resigned from the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service to become a missionary with HCJB Global (now Reach Beyond). She served in Quito as a secretary for 7 years working in a number of areas: broadcasting, communications and medical. In 1980, Dr. Abe Van Der Puy (then President) asked her to come to Miami where the headquarters was to be his secretary. Over the years she worked for various mission leaders, continuing with mission archives.

After twelve years in Miami, she moved to the headquarters now in Colorado Springs. She spent 17 years serving the mission in various positions including archives, communications, proof-reading publications, vision journeys and hospitality. She spent four years working in South Africa for John Thomas’s wife, Avril, at CCFM, the community radio station, with homeless people. She worked  with the poorest of the poor in Capricorn township, helping a former alcoholic deal with anger issues, writing a curriculum on 10 health issues the S.A. government required facilitators to teach in their communities, and led two men and two women to the Lord during her last year.

Dwight retired from active service in 2012. Now he and Susie enjoy traveling, visiting the western WRN, (now Inspiracom) stations, photography, gardening and building projects.
