Lois Nelson Memorial Fund

Lois Corrine Nelson, nee Clapsaddle, was born Sept 8, 1919, in the family’s farm house in Grundy County, near Conrad, Iowa and died Feb, 7 2023.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Lura and Roy Clapsaddle, her brother Jack, her sister Margaret, her husband Floyd, her son Kent, her daughter in law Betty Lou (Mike), and her granddaughter Kim (Mike and Betty Lou).
She grew up on the farm and after finishing high school, attended State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, now known as the University of Northern Iowa. Her first job was as a primary grade teacher in Elk Horn, Iowa. She was paid 75 dollars a month. It was also her last (paid) job as she soon met the coach, Ozzie (Floyd) Nelson.
They were married February 8, 1941, and she quit teaching to raise three little boys; Michael, Stephen and Kent. They moved to Minneapolis, MN in 1948 and there she was able to continue to teach primary grade children, but now in the context of church, first at Asbury Methodist and later at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
She and Ozzie joined Bethlehem in 1964 and have been so grateful to be under such Godly teaching.
They had a keen interest in missions and made many trips to Shell, Ecuador to visit son Steve and his wife Dorothy who were missionaries with the organization then best known as HCJB. Those were the call letters for the first Christian radio station in South America. HCJB also had radio stations in Texas and Lois and Ozzie volunteered their time at those stations during many winters. Summers were spent at Lake Sylvia, MN.
Lois celebrated her 103rd birthday in September 2022 with great appreciation to a great God.
Lois was a wonderful encourager, faithful in prayer for all the needs shared with her and certainly a gift from God. She was ready to meet Jesus.
Memorials will be used to support ministry in Ecuador where her son, Dr. Steve Nelson, and his family, lived and served for many years.
