Long-Term Missions

Long-Term Missions

Reach Beyond has a substantial history of sending missionary workers to the field in long-term capacities. We believe that the spiritual transformation of a culture is a worthy pursuit and is one that demands a long-term investment. Through our mobilization process, we help long-term and career missionary candidates explore how their specific skill sets can best be used for God’s glory among the unreached. Our process of sending is thorough and includes numerous components of equipping, because we want to make sure that our missionary workers are prepared to be effective in ministry for years to come.

Step 1: Join Us

It all starts with an application, followed by an informal interview, an assessment check, and references. Assuming we are a match for each other, we’ll do one more final interview, and then you’re an appointee!

Step 2: Preparation

This stage includes training, coaching and support raising. Training is customized for each appointee, but we’ll get you set up with all that you need to tell your story well. You’ll feel equipped as you present to churches and potential donors about the ministry to which God has called you. Once you are fully funded, it’s time to launch!

Step 3: Wheels Up

As you embark for the field, it’s a new beginning. You’ll enter the field as an explorer, discovering how God is at work, and how you can join Him. This stage includes ongoing training and mentorship, along with language study. But before long, you will be building relationships, putting your skills to work and sharing the love of Jesus with the least reached.

Frequently Asked Questions

The process of deploying to the field can be complicated – but we’re here to make it simple.
  • How long does the process take? Normally from the time of a first conversation until you arrive on the field, it takes around 18 months. Most people get through our application and interview process within 1 – 3 months, and then take 12 – 15 months raising financial support (depending on their readiness).
  • What assistance will I receive? We will work with you to identify the right training for you. Our training requirements are all customized to the individual missionary, as we believe every family has their own particular situation. All appointees will receive training in support raising and cross -cultural adaptation, but they’ll receive additional training that will be customized to their unique situation.
  • Will someone tell me where to go or will I have a choice? We believe that God will lead the process and steer you towards the right field. We will work with you and your church to identify the locations and ministries that most closely align with your passions and skills.
