What if I Don't Know What to Pray?

What if I Don't Know What to Pray?

January 2, 2023

overhead view of a woman sitting with an open bible and cup of coffee When I find myself in situations where I really don’t know what to pray, I remember God’s promises.

• God already knows the need.

Matthew 6:8 (NIV) says, “For your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”

• The Spirit prays for us when we do not know what to pray.

Romans 6:26 (NIV) says, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”

• God’s will is the ultimate goal of our prayers.

Matthew 6:20 (NIV) says, “Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

What is amazing about these truths is that the God and Creator of the Universe still asks us to pray to Him. God wants us to spend time abiding with Him in prayer. Even when we lack the words to pray, the Spirit intercedes for us. God wants us to pray in His presence because it helps us to focus our attention on where it should be. Prayer helps us realign our lives and our desires with His will in every circumstance and situation.

God chooses to use our prayers to fulfill His work around the world. As you have probably noticed, security concerns often limit our ability to share specific names, locations, or languages. Thank you for praying for Reach Beyond, for our missionaries, and our ministry partners even when you don't know all of the details.

Whether you realize it or not, God is answering your prayers. His name is being proclaimed and His love is being demonstrated among the nations through the powerful message of the Gospel.

Through your prayers, you are an essential and equal partner in this ministry and in fulfilling The Great Commission.

Be encouraged that God is hearing your prayers and He is using them to accomplish so much more than we can comprehend or understand!
