For 10 years Galo had been urged, prodded and even warned of dire consequences if he did not proselytize by visiting door to door throughout the city, sharing a rendition of the gospel as taught by the group.

But he could never make himself do it. Finally, the leaders expelled Galo from the group as incompetent to continue with them. Sometime later at Antonio Torres' counseling office at the radio station, Galo expressed deep concerns on whether or not he was saved.

"We analyzed everything about the subject with several passages," Torres said, referring to the Scripture verses that offer seekers the assurance of salvation. In the New Testament, for example, a passage declares that "whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also" (1 John 2:23).

Torres said Galo was especially taken with Jesus' contrasting accounts in the Gospel of Luke of a rich man who did not love God, and a poor man, Lazarus, who did. Jesus revealed the destiny of the former, the rich man, as hell whereas Lazarus was taken into paradise upon death.

Torres said that in all his life, Galo had not heard this and that his religious group discounted the Christian doctrine of hell. The biggest impact for Galo, Torres said, was "knowing that God loves him with eternal love, and that He (Jesus) came to save him from eternal damnation."

"After analyzing several passages in the light of God's Word, Galo began to feel even more concerned and also motivated to know the Lord Jesus as true God and true Man who gave his life as a ransom for humanity, to save the lost," continued Torres. "With great interest in the Lord he asked me how to be saved."

When Galo was ready, he got on his knees. As tears fell from his eyes, he prayed and received Jesus into his heart at the age of 75.
