A broadcaster at one of HCJB Global's 25+ partner stations in Thailand puts together a radio program. |
When the thought occurred to Mrs. B. that she would be survived by a young son unable to care for himself, she determined that he would die with her. Later, her aging father came to mind, and he, too, needed her. So Mrs. B. changed her mind, determining to plod on in her troubled life.
A devout Buddhist, she went to a temple where she was told that she would have to give gifts to nine different temples in one day. That's how she would achieve penance, she was told. Already running late at the third temple, the monk in charge yelled at her, saying it would have been better if she hadn't come at all.
Fearing she would be cut off from any help, Mrs. B continued searching for ways to pay penance for her guilt. She explored various faith systems and religions to no avail. Finally she was told by a friend, "You've tried everything else, but not Christianity. Why don't you go to church?"
Hearing a guest speaker at the church talk of Jesus' forgiveness, Mrs. B. believed in Christ and felt the weight of her guilt lifted from her shoulders. In the last seven years she has continued to follow the Lord who delivered her from her sins.
The guest speaker was a brother of a man affiliated with the Thai Christian Radio Network that partners with HCJB Global in an effort to evangelize and disciple the people of Thailand. In fact, the pastor at the church where Mrs. B. first heard of Jesus' forgiveness would like to establish a community radio station where the gospel is preached.
Today Mrs. B. is back in the restaurant business, specializing in offering customers healthy foods, particularly meals with fresh greens. Broadening her experience, she took broadcast training after learning that her pastor would need trained announcers.
Mrs. B. hopes to have an impact on others in her community with the good news that Jesus Christ offers people freedom in Him.
