New Partner Station to Target People Group in Northern Ghana

For 12 years Pastor Peter had a desire to start a radio station in Bolgatanga, a city of nearly 60,000 in northern Ghana. His dream was to reach the predominantly Muslim Gurenne (Frafra) people with Christian broadcasts.
That dream is nearing a reality as the government has approved the radio license, and HCJB Global is working alongside him to install the equipment. Broadcasts are expected to begin in December.
Joseph Kebbie, training coordinator at the mission's Sub-Saharan Africa regional office in Accra, recently made the hot, dusty trip to Bolgatanga to teach local believers how to run a radio station, holding five days of training.
"Seven people attended the training-one female and the rest male," Kebbie said. "I am told that most of the people who took part in this training will be on-air presenters. In one of my presentations I emphasized the importance of every department of a radio station. Not everyone has been on the air."
He added that digital editing is the area he enjoys most as a trainer. "Imagine going to train digital editing to someone who is computer-literate. The learners were very enthusiastic about understanding how you record your voice and edit it on computer. From the answers I got from the learners, I feel that they have gotten a good idea of this concept. I like the fact that I can help my fellow Africans through HCJB Global by developing these radio skills in them."
Kebbie also taught courses on using studio equipment, radio formats and radio station automation systems, with free software available to stations that have little budget for staff.
After Kebbie's visit, Pastor Peter wrote, "The Christian community here is so excited that by the Lord's grace through you, we will be having a Christian radio station through which the lives of many Frafras would be changed spiritually. The excitement became much greater when Joseph came to give us radio training?. I, my church and the community do appreciate very much the help HCJB Global is giving us. May God open more doors for you to reach every tribe with Christian radio."
