When Nicholas and Rachel Johnson went on the mission field with Reach Beyond in 2011, it was in answer to a three-part calling God had placed in their lives:

• To proclaim the Gospel of Christ around the world

Through the efforts of Reach Beyond and our ministry partners around the world, the Gospel of Christ is being proclaimed and demonstrated through our various Voice and Hands efforts. From FM radio stations to online discussion groups to clean water projects to mobile healthcare clinics, the love of Jesus is being made evident, and through their work at the Reach Beyond headquarters, Nicholas and Rachel are able to help ensure that these partners and projects get the support they need.

• To shine the light of Christ into their community

Nicholas and Rachel don’t want to overlook their own community in their desire to reach the ‘world’ with the Gospel. They are excited that God would have them serve in Littleton, Colorado, at St. Herman Orthodox Christian Church where they can actively be the Voice and Hands of Jesus in their own community, city, and country! Please pray that they would continue seeking out ways they can reveal the light of Christ to those they come in contact with.

• To serve and support other missionaries

Early in their marriage, Nicholas and Rachel recognized that missionaries carry very heavy burdens. They’re usually overworked and underpaid, and generally speaking, they rarely take vacations or get much of a break. Nicholas and Rachel desire to help lift this heavy burden, and Nicholas uses his role as the IT Systems Administrator to do that for Reach Beyond. Technology is a vital tool in today’s world, and Nicholas serves in whatever ways he can to keep that tool sharp in the hands of Reach Beyond missionaries.

When Nicholas and Rachel were seeking God’s direction in 2011, they wondered if God would have them serve in just one of these callings. But they were amazed and blessed when God directed them to Reach Beyond, where they see the opportunity to answer of each of the passions the Lord laid on their hearts.
