APOYO Pastoral Training

Project ID: 372130

The church in Latin America is growing. Yet many congregations lack mature, healthy leadership. Apoyo (Spanish for “support”) is a ministry of Reach Beyond that involves coming alongside pastors and other church leaders, supporting and equipping them for effective service in local churches and communities.

Apoyo is developing national teams of facilitators who are multiplying Christian leadership training programs. As staff members work alongside church leaders in this formational process, their desire is to see participants grow as godly, competent servant-leaders who in turn train others to do the same.

APOYO Training

APOYO Training

Since its inception in 1992, Apoyo has carried on a variety of training ministries throughout Latin America. Currently the outreach has national partners who are multiplying these efforts in Ecuador, Cuba, Peru and Argentina. More recently, the Apoyo team responded to invitations to develop teams that facilitate the ministry in Colombia, Guatemala and Chile.

The core curriculum emphasizes spiritual leadership character and ministry skills with a priority on personal mentoring relationships. The goal is to support these leaders in developing healthy churches and ministries in their own countries as well as nourishing the vision to mobilize local churches for global missions.

Julkys was a young seminary student from rural Cuba when he made his first contact with Apoyo. As staff members journeyed with him through friendship, mentoring and participation in various seminars, he grew in passion, character and skills. Today he is a pastor, mentoring other leaders and multiplying Apoyo’s leadership training courses throughout eastern Cuba.

The principle of 2 Timothy 2:2—entrusting to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others—can be seen in Julkys in Cuba, Ruth in Peru, Javier in Ecuador and in many other emerging leaders across Latin America who have received training via Apoyo.

Will you consider partnering with Reach Beyond so the mission can partner with the growing Latin American church in developing servant-leaders? Your monthly commitment or special gift will make a difference in the lives of these leaders who in turn will continue to make a spiritual impact on others.
