Reach Beyond's Response to COVID-19

In light of the global expansion of COVID-19 (coronavirus), Reach Beyond leadership is taking all necessary steps to protect our staff while ensuring ministry work continues. We have staff serving all over the world, with various degrees of impact from COVID-19. We are closely monitoring each location where we have missionaries serving and making adjustments as needed. We are also evaluating all upcoming travel, short-term trips and events. While we are encouraging our U.S. staff to work remotely, we are still available to assist our donors, missionaries and supporters with all of their needs.

Please join us in prayer for all impacted by COVID-19. Pray that a quick response from government and medical agencies would slow the spread of the virus and that those affected would make a full recovery. Pray for wisdom for our leaders, and that fear would not take hold. Pray that it would have minimal impact on the work we do to spread the Gospel.

It’s become a cliché to say that we’re living in uncertain times! All us know that… and we don’t need to be reminded!

But you know, I believe that God is using this challenging season to call us all back to three things:

  1. intercessory prayer,
  2. an unhurried life, and
  3. a simple and childlike trust in our heavenly Father.

I want you to know that our staff are praying for you during this season.

  • We know that many of you have real concerns about the health and safety of your family and friends.
  • Some of you are feeling isolated and lonely… even depressed
  • Others of you have lost your jobs and aren’t sure if it will come back
  • A number of you are business owners. At this point, you have no idea as to when or even ‘if’ you’ll be able to reopen your business.

Our thoughts and prayers are very much with you during this difficult season. Would you please share your specific prayer request with us? You can do that by clicking on the request prayer button on this webpage. We’ve heard from many of you, but we want to pray for all of you.

I also want to take this opportunity to answer a few questions that some of you have asked about how Reach Beyond is responding to this crisis:

First, we want you to know that we’ve taken significant precautions to ensure the safety of all of our missionaries, staff, and ministry partners.

  • Almost everyone is working from home.
  • We’ve cut out all travel through the end of May.
  • And while we did need to evacuate a handful of our volunteers and staff from certain locations, almost all of our missionaries and partners are staying put in their place of ministry and taking the appropriate measures to protect themselves and their loved ones.
  • As you also know, we have a number missionaries and partners that serve as medical professionals in Ecuador and Central Asia. So far, COVID 19 has not overwhelmed the regions where our medical workers serve. However, our missionaries and their partners are remaining vigilant and preparing for what might come.

Secondly, I want you to know that even though this virus has limited our mobility, the ministry is continuing to move forward. As we say around here: The Gospel can’t be quarantined.

  • With people being homebound and having more time on their hands, the internet is booming… and our online English Conversation Project has been adding new YouTube subscribers at a fantastic rate. These folks from all over the planet are not only learning how to converse in English, they’re also hearing the Good News of our hope in Christ
  • All around the world, the  radio stations that we’ve helped to launch and continue to serve, are broadcasting the gift of hope to literally hundreds of thousands of people every day.
  • Through on-line chat rooms, Facebook, zoom meetings, WeChat, and other digital media platforms, our missionaries and partners are following up on endless requests for prayer and information about the Gospel.  Many are responding, from all over the world, including the places where the coronavirus has hit the hardest. The Gospel can’t be quarantined!

Thirdly, I know that many of you are eager to help out during this challenging season of crisis and opportunity. All of our partners around the world are facing the same challenges that we in the US are facing. We’re all in this together. As fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, we’re one big global family.

However, many of our partners in the world’s least reached places like Burkina, Togo, Indonesia, and Bangladesh, have very limited access to the resources that we have. They want to continue serving their communities through radio, clean water, and healthcare, but they’re very uncertain as to where the resources will come from. These partners know that the Lord is with them. We want them to know that we are with them as well. Would you prayerfully consider making a special gift during this next month? Your gift will bring hope not only, to our partners and staff, but to all the millions of people with whom they’re sharing the Good News.

You can give in either of the following ways: you can hit the donate button on this webpage. It’s easy and quick to do. Or you can give the old-fashioned way by sending your check to Reach Beyond

I want to close by sharing with you one of my all-time favorite verses. I’m sure you know it already, and perhaps it’s one of your favorites as well. It’s the promise from Isaiah 41:10

“Fear not, for I am with you, Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.“

God bless you dear friends. We’re praying for you. Please let us know how we can pray more specifically. We love and appreciate you.
